Otavalo Spanish School is located in the idyllic town of Otovalo. Otavalo lies within a beautiful valley in the Ecuadorian Andes mountain range, at 2666m in altitude. Our Spanish School in Otovalo offers you the opportunity to study the Spanish language and take Spanish programmes with a back-drop of snow-capped mountains, beautiful lakes, green pastures and local indigenous communities.

Your Spanish course in Otavalo will take place in the town centre, close to the Plaza de Ponchos and the famous local market. Otavalo is a very special Ecuadorian town where the inhabitants are still seen in traditional dress and are very proud of their customs and lifestyles: hand-making/weaving and selling textiles and farming. It is the perfect location to practise speaking Spanish and what you have learnt in your Spanish lessons during the day with the friendly local people.

We have a range of Spanish language courses to suit everyone. Long stays or short stays are all catered for and Spanish lessons planned so that you get the most out of your time in Otavalo Spanish School. When you learn Spanish in Otavalo you will be taught by very friendly and supportive Spanish teachers. They are passionate about the Spanish language and want you to be able to communicate, write, understand and speak Spanish more effectively by the time you have completed your Spanish course in Otavalo.

There are opportunities to be completely immersed in Ecuadorian culture by choosing to stay with an Ecuadorian family and you can also volunteer in Otavalo. We run Otavalo volunteering opportunities with some of the surrounding communities, which provide a unique and wonderful insight into Ecuadorian culture (and you will be helping too!). Combined Spanish Language and Volunteer programmes mean that you can learn Spanish and help out in an alternative medicine medical centre, in a bird and condor park, or with children at community-run orphanages.
